Hungerford police team launches antisocial behaviour survey for Prospect Road residents

A NEIGHBOURHOOD police team has created a survey for residents plagued by antisocial behaviour.

At a recent full meeting of Hungerford Town Council, residents of Prospect Road appealed for help, complaining of knife crime, drug dealing and antisocial behaviour.

Councillors offered to help to co-ordinate efforts to tackle the problem but stressed that residents themselves should ensure they report each instance to police.

Some residents were reluctant to discuss the issue for fear of repercussions.

But one told the Newbury Weekly News: “There’s kids out here shouting at all hours.

“They’re on electric bikes and scooters and they cover their faces.

“I spoke to some and just got a load of abuse.

“Something needs to be done.”

There has also been serious violence - in June a person was stabbed.

At around 12.40am on Sunday, June 30, a man in his late teens sustained stab wounds in Prospect Road between 8.45pm on Saturday, June 29, and 12.30am the following day.

Anyone with information should report it via the 101 number, or on the police website, quoting reference number 43240307849.

Meanwhile the town’s neighbourhood police team this week launched the antisocial behaviour survey aimed at people living in and around Prospect Road.

There are six questions, and the force says it will take just 60 seconds to complete.

The survey states: “The results of the survey will help gain a better understanding of what's happening in the local community and help the neighbourhood team tackle identified issues.

“Your responses will remain confidential.”
