Thames Valley Police make new arrests and extend Section 60 order following assault in Dickens Walk, Newbury
Thames Valley Police have extended a Section 60 order in Newbury, following an assault.
The order allows greater powers to stop and search.
The order initially began at 9.30am on Tuesday but has been extended for another 24 hours until 9.30am today (Thursday).
It covers the area between Greenham Road and the A339 from the Burger King roundabout down to Newbury College.
Members of the public will continue to see an increased police presence.
The order was put in place after a man was attacked on Dickens Walk.
The victim remains in hospital and is in a serious condition.
Yesterday, officers arrested a 19-year-old man, 18-year-old man and two 17-year-old boys on suspicion of GBH with intent.
They have all been released on bail.
A 36-year-old man and a 13-year-old boy have now been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent and remain in police custody at this time.
