Police name man who died on the A4 last night




Appeal for witnesses launched

The man who died after being hit by a car in Newbury last night has been named.

He is Philip Cheek, aged 55, from Newbury.

His next of kin have been informed.

Investigating officer, PC Melanie Todd, said: "Our thoughts are with Mr Cheek's family at this extremely difficult time.

"Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and we would appeal to anyone who might have information to come forward."

Mr Cheek was killed after being hit by a Mini Cooper S on the A4 near Dorneywood Way at around 7.30pm on Saturday.
