Thatcham police operation sees if premises will provide them room with young person




Police in Thatcham have carried out a Child Sexual Exploitation Operation.

They entered various premises with a child asking for a room and alcohol.

Thames Valley Police (TVP) Safeguarding Team and Thatcham Neighbourhood Team visited five different places on November 15.

And this is what they found.

At the first premises they visited the receptionist asked both the young person and adult for ID in relation to booking a room.

They also refused the sale of alcohol.

TVP said this premises was very aware of Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and the potential risk to young people.

The second did provide the young person and adult a room but they refused the sale of alcohol.

The third premise said no rooms were available but asked for ID and refused the sale of alcohol.

The fourth and fifth offered online booking only.

TVP said officers engaged with all staff to raise CSE awareness and to highlight the signs to look out for.
