Update: Police say ‘no danger’ to public in Newbury’s Park House School ‘threat’ incident

POLICE have said there is no danger to the public surrounding a threat which caused a school to close.

Parents and pupils were turned away from Newbury’s Park House School due to an unspecified threat this morning (Tuesday).

The Andover Road school sent the following message to parents via email, urging them to stay at home today.

“Dear parents, We have received a threat to the school.

“We are communicating with police and will keep you updated.

“Please don’t attend the site.

“We will keep you updated as soon as we can.

“Any students who have arrived will be kept safely on the field until they can be collected or return home.”

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: “We are investigating a malicious communications incident at Park House School in Newbury this morning.

“While the school has decided to close for the day, we believe the incident is isolated and no threats have been corroborated, so there is no danger to the public.

“Please get in touch if you have any concerns though.”
