Police searching for man after 17-year-old is sexually assaulted in Newbury
A spokeswoman for Thames Valley Police, Connie Primmer, said that the victim and her friend were approached by a man on his bike close to the job centre on Oxford Road.
The man then followed them until they reached Bath Road and as they got near the alleyway by Digby Road, the man grabbed the girl inappropriately.
The victim and her friend managed to walk away uninjured and the offender is thought to have left the scene either by bike or on foot.
The offender is described as being in his late twenties and of mixed race. He is skinny build, about 5ft 9 to 5ft 10ins tall with shaved dark hair and was wearing dark denim jeans and a royal blue top.
A police helicopter circled the skies of Newbury for more than an hour last night searching for the man after reports that the man may have headed in the direction of the railway line.
A tweet from the National Police Air Service (NPAS) read: "17/8 2115hrs
with
searching for a suspect who fled onto railway. Areas cleared with help of dog handler."
Anyone with any information, should call police on 101.
