Police seek man who may have vital information about a sexual assault

The allegation was passed to British Transport Police (BTP) by Thames Valley Police at 3.19am on Tuesday after a 35-year-old woman reported the assault.
The bridge was cordoned off while a crime scene examiner attended the scene.
The victim was subsequently interviewed by officers specially trained in dealing with sexual offences.
Police would like to speak to a man who was seen near the area around the time of the incident.
He is described as white, around 5’7” tall with short dark hair that is greying slightly at the sides.
He was wearing a dark grey short-sleeved top, pale-coloured trousers and black Converse-style trainers.
Investigators are working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident and enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Sergeant Steve Cullinane said: “The victim reported meeting a man in the Oxford Road area around 2.30am before walking with him to Reading West rail station.
“It is then alleged that he seriously sexually assaulted her before robbing her of around £40.
"We’re continuing to make local enquiries to build a picture of what happened and would like to speak to a man who we know was in the area at the time.”
Inspector Chris Maddox, officer in charge at Reading BTP station on Station Hill, said: “BTP officers actively patrol at Reading’s rail stations, including Reading West, and will continue to do so after the incident early on Tuesday morning.
“Crime at Reading West is very low but our priority is to make sure that people who use the railway in Reading are not only safe, but feel safe.
“It’s therefore important that members of the local community tell us about any issues of concern they have in the area because this allows my officers and I to identify any problems and set about tackling them.”
Anyone with information is asked to call BTP on freefone number 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 29 of 25 September 2012.
Information can also be passed to the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
