Police seek witnesses in robbery enquiry

At around 2.30am on Saturday, March 10, Thames Valley police officers saw two men running in Boundary Road and when one of the men indicated that he had been robbed the officers asked him to wait nearby while they searched for the suspect.
However, he did not wait and officers were unable to trace him.
A woman approached the same officers in Hambridge Road and asked if her purse had been found, but she also failed to wait when asked to do so.
The man officers would like to trace is described as white, approximately 20 years old, about 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins, slim, with short brown hair. He was wearing a long sleeved white top.
The woman is also white and aged about 20, about 5ft 5ins, slim, with long brown wavy hair. She was wearing a hip length dark jacket at the time.
Det Con Clare Larkworthy said: “We have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and in order to progress our inquiry are keen to hear from the man who we think could be a victim and the woman who asked about her purse. I would stress that they are not in any trouble. We would also like to hear from anyone else who was in the area and might have seen any suspicious activity.”
The 27-year-old man has been released on bail until April 11.
Det Con Larkworthy can be contacted via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on the non emergency telephone number, 101.
