Reading Magistrates' Court: Thames Valley Police seize Newbury man's suspect cash

A MAN has had cash seized by police, who suspect it was gained illegally.
On Thursday, January 27, police applied to Reading magistrates for permission to hold on to the money they had retrieved the previous day from Simon Christopher Skinner of Gaywood Drive, Newbury.
They made the application under section 295 of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 on the grounds that the £1,300 they had reasonable grounds for suspecting that it is recoverable property – that is, property obtained through unlawful conduct or intended for use in unlawful conduct.
The court granted the order for six months.
Mr Skinner was not present in court to contest the application.
