Police team to host Thatcham football tournament

It will be held on today (Weds) between 10am and 3pm at Henwick Worthy Sports Ground in Thatcham.
The competition has been organised to encourage disadvantaged pupils to use personal targets to achieve in their educational goals.
It is linked in with the Government’s SEAL (Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning) initiative which is run within schools and is used to support personal targets in behaviour and learning.
The competition is targeting children who would not usually have the opportunity to play for their school sporting teams or local external football teams.
Children are not selected on their football ability but on reaching learning and behavioural targets set within their schools.
PCSO Jonathan Coffman said: “This is the tenth year, we are running this event, and just like previous years, we anticipate this year will be equally as successful.
“This is a great competition that allows children to focus on behaviour and learning targets set within their schools.
“I hope everyone involved in this football tournament will have an enjoyable time on the day.”
