Police to clampdown on illegal raves during the jubilee weekend
Earlier this month, on May 6, officers made five arrests after an unlicensed music event was closed down near Wantage, Oxfordshire.
The co-ordinated operation was assisted by local landowners which resulted in the event being quickly shut down.
As well as the arrests, audio equipment and two vehicles were seized by police.
Inspector Emma Baillie said: “Our message to those who come to Thames Valley to set up an unlicensed music event is clear. They are not welcome here. If they set up such an event they are likely to be arrested and have their vehicles and equipment seized. We will be working pro-actively with local communities and landowners to ensure these events do not take place over this Jubilee weekend.”
Landowners and farmers are asked to be vigilant by checking sensors, farm gates, entry points, and outbuildings to consider how they can prevent unlawful entry onto their land.
Rural communities are asked to be watchful of anyone acting suspiciously.
Thames Valley Police would like to remind local communities that if they notice anyone acting suspiciously who may be conducting early reconnaissance on rural land or starting to set up an event, please contact police on 101 promptly with a description and location to help us prevent a rave before it has started.
