A large payment had been made despite the man failing to provide a business name.

Thames Valley Police is warning people not to make payments in similar circumstances, particularly if the services have not been requested.

Anyone who does commission works, they should be provided with a quote, an invoice or a receipt for payment as a minimum.

Thames Valley Police says that if any payments have already been made and there are concerned this is not for genuine goods and or services, residents can contact Action Fraud on 0300 1232040 or via its website www.actionfraud.police.uk

Reports or concerns can be made by calling officers on 101 or, if someone is in immediate danger or a crime is happening at the time, call 999.
