Nine vehicles were broken into in one night in Tilehurst

POLICE are urging Tilehurst residents to be extra vigilant after nine vehicles were broken into in a single night in one area of the suburb.

The spate of thefts occurred overnight on Thursday, January 12, in the Dee Road and The Meadway areas.

Four vehicles were broken into on The Meadway with a satellite navigation system stolen from one and a mobile phone taken from another.

Two vehicles were targeted on Carron Close; a satellite navigation system was taken from one and the other was searched but nothing was stolen.

Satellite navigation systems were also taken from cars in Upton Road and in Cotswold Way, where one vehicle had an iPod stolen too.

Another satellite navigation system was taken from a car in Thurso Close, along with leads, a small amount of cash and cigarette, and in Warbreck Drive hubcaps were taken from a vehicle.

Thames Valley Police Det Sgt Mark Heybourne said: “These offences are occurring overnight and vehicles are being searched for items such as mobile phones, sat nav's and tools.

“I am keen to speak to anyone with information who may know who is responsible for these crimes and also where these stolen goods are being taken.”

Anyone with information about these offences is asked to telephone the 24-hour enquiry line on 101 or anonymously on 0800 555 111.
