Pop in with a poppy for free trim for pensioners this Remembrance Sunday
The co-owner of Legends barber shop in Bartholomew Street, Jim Tyson (pictured, right, with brother and business partner Mike) will be offering all pensioners who visit the shop on Sunday, November 10 a free trim if they are wearing a poppy.
He will also have a collection bucket on hand for all those making use of the free service to make a donation and all funds raised will go direct to this year’s Poppy Appeal, run by the Royal British Legion, which supports past and present members of the British Armed Forces and their families.
Mr Tyson said: “The British Legion - that’s a charity which is close to my heart.
“I have got ancestors who have been in the war.
“I think it’s very important to this country. There are lots of great charities out there but I think this is a great country, we have got to be proud of what we stand for and what we have done, what we have accomplished over the years.”
The shop will be open from 10am until 4pm.
Mr Tyson and his business partner Dave Whittell, who between them own Legends barber shop in High Street, Hungerford, will also both be sporting moustaches in support of Movember, a national scheme which aims to raise funds for and awareness of prostate and testicular cancer and mental health charities.
The pair will be offering anyone who visits either of the Legends stores with a moustache in support of Movember half price cut-throat shaves throughout November.
Customers will also be able to support the cause by donating in-store.
