Pop-up market for Newbury businesses this Christmas
The new market, located in Bartholomew Street, is the initiative of Sovereign Housing Association, which owns the building.
It will start on November 30 and takes place every day from 10am to 5.30pm, except on Thursday, when it opens until 7pm and on Sunday, when it closes at 4pm.
Anyone from the local area can apply to rent a market stall and Sovereign residents will also benefit from low rates and free support with business start-up.
The project is also supporting Global Entrepreneurship Week from 18 to 24 November, which aims to increase enterprise ambition and ensuring that those with ideas know where to get the support to make them a reality.
It also represents an opportunity to support Small Business Saturday on December 7, a grass-roots campaign that encourages people to 'shop local' and support small businesses in their communities.
Sovereign’s Community Investment Director, Lisa Denison, said: “We are aiming to support budding entrepreneurs and established local businesses in the lead up to Christmas, giving Newbury’s economy a boost in the process.”
“This initiative is part of our strategy to support employment and entrepreneurship among our residents to make them more resilient in the current economic climate, as well as to strengthen communities.”
