Newbury Royal British Legion thanks Poppy Appeal fundraisers

The Newbury Royal British Legion recently hosted a reception to thank a special few who have collected for the Poppy Appeal for so many years.

A small ceremony ran at the club from 7.30pm to 10pm on Saturday, March 4 and was attended by around 25 people.

Of those in attendance, 19 received special commendations for their fundraising efforts.

"The Newbury branch thanks the people of Newbury for their wonderful effort and generosity," said branch chairman, Keith Williams.

Mr Williams further thanked Poppy Appeal organiser, Angela Logue, along with all the award recipients for their ongoing support and dedication to this worthy cause.

From October 2022 until now, Newbury has collected £75,000 — compared with £25,000 only 10 years ago.

Donations are sent by each branch to the Legion headquarters in London, where the total national figure raised is tallied and announced in May.
