Poppy display unveiled in Thatcham Broadway ahead of Remembrance Sunday
Thatcham Broadway has been adorned with crotcheted poppies this morning (Friday) ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
Thatcham Town Council decorated the town centre after an appeal to Thatcham residents for creative volunteers.
The display includes a central tree with a white picket fence draped in fabric poppies, a poppy-themed bench adorned by Thatcham WI, a post box topper created by Thatcham residents, plus trees wrapped in poppies all along the Broadway.
The town’s annual service is taking place on Sunday, November 10, and is expecting 700 people to take part.
The parade will start in the Kingsland Centre car park from 10am.
Vehicle access to the car park will be limited from this time until 10.30am.
The Parade will pass through the Broadway and High Street to the Parade Ground.
The Broadway and High Street will be closed to traffic at least between 10.30am and 10.45am and 11.20am and 11.45am.
Access through the town is recommended via Lower Way and The Moors during these times.
Everyone is welcome to attend the parade service and the subsequent service at St Mary’s Church.
