Popular Thatcham bar manager died following fall, inquest hears

The hearing in Newbury was told 75-year-old Ermenegildo ‘Jimmy’ Pagliaroli may have suffered a heart attack.
He was found with a fractured skull by daughter Anna at the home they shared in Groveland Road, Speen, in the early hours of April 14.
He died soon afterwards in the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading and assistant deputy Berkshire coroner Anna Burnside recorded a verdict of accidental death.
Mr Pagliaroli was well known in the Thatcham area and hundreds of mourners packed his funeral in St Joseph’s Church, Newbury.
For decades he worked at Reeds Corrugated Cases at Colthrop, always stopping off for a drink on the way home at Paggie’s Bar in the Kingsland Centre, Thatcham, opened in 1988 by his sons Bruno and Piero.
Piero Pagliaroli, who still runs the bar and former trattoria with his wife Deborah, said: “Dad was very well known and extremely popular. He was such a laid back guy and had time for everyone. He would chat to anyone in the street and make them laugh.
“He worked here, too, with the family but he was absolutely heartbroken when our Mum, Santina, died a few years ago. Ironically, he was just starting to cope again when he had his fall. He’s fondly remembered and sadly missed by many people.”
Mr Pagliaroli is also survived by his son Bruno.
