Poundworld arrives in Newbury

The discount retailer held an opening bash on Thursday (16) to celebrate its arrival in the town in Newbury Retail Park.
It was the family-owned chain’s 200th store opening in the UK, and to mark the milestone gave out prizes to every 200th customer and donated goods to the West Berkshire Volunteer Centre.
The mayor of Newbury, Arthur Johnson, cut the ribbon.
The trading director at Poundworld, Chris Edwards Junior, said the retailer was delighted to be able to create 30 new jobs for the area with its maiden store.
“We look forward to welcoming customers through our doors and we hope our new store will prove a big hit with savvy shoppers in the town,” he said.
