Power cut on The Broadway, Church Close and Steeple View expected to continue for most of today (Wednesday)

PARTS of Thatcham were left without power today (Wednesday) after a fault in an underground cable cut electricity to 51 properties.

Southern Electric confirmed the fault was reported at 8.45am, but said the power will be out for most of the day, potentially only coming back early this evening.

The roads affected by the cut include Steeple View, The Broadway and Church Close.

Several businesses were affected, including solicitors firm Gardner Leader and The Old Chequers Pub, both on the Broadway.

Southern Electric spokeswoman Sam O'Connor has apologised for the delay, but said they are working to get power back on as quickly as possible.
