Power cut hits Hampshire villages
A power cut in north Hampshire is currently affecting over 800 users.
A spokeswoman for Southern Electric, Kirsty Irons, confirmed a a fault on a high voltage network cut supplies at 12pm today to 859 customers in several areas, including Ashmansworth, Ball Hill, Highclere, Hollington, Penwood and East Woodhay.
Ms Irons said engineers were currently on site trying to resolve the problem, but could not give any expected time when supplies might be restored:
"Engineers are trying to restore supplies by a technique known as 'switching' - by feeding in from the network to connect to supplies," said Ms Irons.
The cause of the fault is not known and under investigation by the company.

Update 3.20pm
There are unconfirmed reports that power is back on in some areas.
Update 4.30 pm
Southern Electric have confirmed 255 customers remain affected by the power cut.
Engineers are still working to restore supplies by this evening to those customers who remain without power, according to the company, although the time was not known, with the cause still under investigation.
Update 11.05am Wed
Southern Electric have confirmed power was restored to the remaining 150 customers at midnight last night (Tues).
The company has apologised to customers for any inconvenience caused.
