Power problem closes Thatcham pool

Electrical problem causes Kennet Leisure Centre swimming pool to close

SCHOOL pupils hoping for a half term swim at Kennet Leisure Centre today (Tuesday) may have been disappointed to find the pool closed for most of the day, due to an electrical problem.

Alex Godfrey, general manager for the contract with Parkwood Leisure, who manage the centre on behalf of West Berkshire Council, said something was causing the pool's electrical board to ‘trip out'.

He said all other facilities at the leisure centre were open.

“We have an electrician on site trying to resolve why we are losing power,” said Mr Godfrey, adding it was hoped the pool would re-open at 7pm this evening.
