Power restored to Burghfield Common

School and leisure centre re-open after yesterday's power outage

POWER has been restored to hundreds of properties across Burghfield Common after an outage forced the closure of a school and leisure centre yesterday (Monday).

The Willink school in School Lane and Willink Leisure Centre, Hollybush Lane, have both re-opened today after a power cut yesterday morning saw 300 properties across Burghfield Common affected.

Southern Electric apologised for the problems yesterday and set up a rig of mobile generators while engineers worked to restore power to the area.

Today a spokeswoman for the firm, Samantha O'Connor, said: "The engineers restored the supplies via mobile generation but have identified a cable fault.

"The repairs are underway and we will reconnect customers to their original supplies once they are complete. This will not affect their supplies."
