Praise for Taste of England regulars from Newbury Cancer Care
PUB customers have helped raise a whopping £661.50 towards Newbury Cancer Care.
The cash was raised via the monthly meat raffle at The Taste of England, at Lower Henwick Farm, off Turnpike Road between Newbury and Thatcham.
It was the second major donation to the charity in 12 months by licensee Michelle McCarthy and her regulars at The Taste.
Punters pay £1 per ticket for the raffle and, once the meat is paid for, all the proceeds go into the collection.
Staff member Lee Kelly said: “We support the air ambulance charity, too, but we’ve chosen Newbury Cancer Care because it’s special.
“Let’s face it, cancer probably will affect all of us in one way or another; it’s a cause that’s dear to the hearts of lots of us here.”
The charity’s operations director, Helen Milroy, thanked the team and customers and said: “We were absolutely amazed at the amount of notes on opening the container.
“We and everyone at Newbury Cancer Care are extremely grateful for all your donations and hard work over the years, which are gratefully received.”
