Compton Pre-School overjoyed by ‘Good’ Ofsted rating

One local pre-school is over the moon with its latest Ofsted result.

Compton Pre-School, based in the village’s Coronation Hall, has received a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating after its last inspection in June.

Staff are thrilled as the pre-school obtained ‘Good’ ratings in all categories.

Manager Louise Somerville, who the report calls a “good role model”, shared her reaction to the news, saying: “We are so pleased with the result of our recent Ofsted inspection.

“The inspection was very thorough but fair, and we are delighted with the outcome of being rated as a ‘Good’ provider.”

She continued: “The report is a great team achievement and I am very proud of all of the staff for their dedication and hard work.

“We are always striving to be the best we can be. We will be taking the constructive feedback given by Ofsted to help further improve the learning opportunities given to the children here.”

The report noted children at the pre-school are “focused and engaged”, benefitting from “the secure environment and friendly attitude of the staff”.

The report also praised the five members of staff for creating and implementing a “meaningful curriculum” based around the children's interests.

It suggested staff could focus curriculum plans more precisely, with particular reference to the garden for children who prefer to learn outdoors.

The pre-school was last inspected in 2017, when it also achieved a ‘Good’ rating.

Compton Pre-School opened in 1968 and currently has 33 children on roll, all aged two- to four-years-old.
