Pregnant Hungerford pub manageress 'sacked for being fat and wobbly'
John O'Gaunt Inn boss Mark Genders insists: 'We look after our staff'
A BAR manager at Hungerford’s John O’Gaunt Inn was sacked for getting pregnant, an employment tribunal was told this week.
Rachel Skeffington said she and her partner were ordered out before she became “fat and wobbly”.
She told the hearing in Reading that her boss Mark Genders “enjoyed” taunting her in front of customers.
Mr Genders vehemently denies her claims and says he "bent over backwards" to help Ms Skeffington and her partner.
She was dismissed, he said, because she was "wasn't good enough for her job – not because she was pregnant."
She is suing him, parent company Innformal Pub Company and Brewery and also the John O’Gaunt Inn for sex discrimination, unfair dismissal, breach of contract and maternity breaches.
