Ashmansworth villager Ruth Kent, who was accompanied by three members of her family, has been council clerk for the past 20 years. She was presented with a chiming clock and bouquet of flowers by the chairman of the council, Alan Cox, in thanks for her service to the local community.
Mr Cox thanked her for her dedication over the years and wished her all the best for the future.
He said later:“Ruth was delighted with this and reminisced on how much had changed over that period.”
Mrs Kent’s successor is Maxta Thomas who is also the clerk for Silchester Parish Council.
