Ecchinswell and Sydmonton Primary School pupils create Santa models out of clay, papier mâché and Lego
Children from a North Hampshire school showed off their Christmas creativity as part of the school’s festive celebrations.
Ecchinswell and Sydmonton Primary School pupils and staff were asked to make a 3D model of Father Christmas around 50cm in height out of any materials they wanted as part of the school's Santa festival.
These creations, which ranged from a Lego model to a gingerbread man, were displayed at the Santa festival and Christmas Fayre on the afternoon of Friday, December 9.
Head teacher Sharon Pole said: "Everybody worked incredibly hard with their designs and all deserve a massive well done."
Other Father Christmas figures were made out of clay, papier mâché, fabric and plastic bottles.
Esmae Lucas, seven, made her Father Christmas model out of Lego. She said: "I enjoyed putting the bricks together to make my Santa. The holes in the Lego bricks feel nice.
"I have been to an after school Lego club this term and it makes me happy so I made a Lego Santa."
Alex Grant-Jones, seven, made an edible Santa Claus. He said: "I liked the idea of making a gingerbread Santa as the icing part is fun. I can eat my Santa afterwards too."
Ecchinswell and Sydmonton Primary wanted to add a charitable angle to the creative task.
Miss Pole also said: "We think it is important that our children learn that Christmas is not just about receiving gifts but is also a time of giving.
"So, once the Santas were displayed, we invited the school community in to look at the festive display and entry to the exhibition was a donation of an item for the food bank.
"Thanks to the generosity of our families we collected a large amount of items which will be delivered to the food bank before Christmas."
The donations will be given to West Berks Foodbank.
This is the school's second annual artistic Christmas endeavour after pupils were invited to decorate Christmas tree pictures last year.
