Prime minister opens new Thames Valley Police HQ building
According to Thames Valley Police, David Cameron visited the site at 2.30pm and was greeted by Chief Constable Sara Thornton, Deputy Chief Constable Francis Habgood and Police and Crime Commissioner Anthony Stansfeld.
Mr Cameron took a tour of the new building and was introduced to Thames Valley Police officers and staff.
The new block was completed in late 2012 and includes new offices for performance management and strategic development.
Local communications officer Parmvir Singh, who signed the Prime Minister up to Thames Valley Alert, said: “I was delighted to be given the opportunity to speak with the Prime Minister about my role and discuss the different methods we use to communicate with our communities, such as Thames Valley Alert.”
Mr Cameron also met with community award winners including PC Jim Lake and PCSO Liz Davidson.
Unveiling a plaque in the building, Mr Cameron thanked the force for their work in keeping residents of the Thames Valley safe, adding his personal thanks to the force for the safekeeping of his Oxfordshire home, adding:
“Come rain or snow you’re out there on the streets protecting my family and I’m very grateful for that.”
Chief Constable Sara Thornton said she was very proud to show the Prime Minister the force’s new building and to introduce him to police officers and staff, adding:
“We really appreciated his taking time to visit TVP this afternoon.”
