Princess Anne opens gardens at West Berkshire hospital

The Princess Royal was shown around the new therapy gardens, recently opened at the hospital to mark the milestone anniversary, and met with patients, staff, local residents and dignitaries.
The new gardens provide a large area of outdoor space for patients to relax and socialise and may act as a source of therapy for some, with a wheelchair-accessible greenhouse, vegetable patch and an al fresco seating area among its features.
Hospital matron Amanda Hart said: "We will be using the vegetable patch for patients.
"For our patients with Alzheimer's it might evoke memories from the past which is really good therapy for patients with memory problems.
"Picking a piece of fruit might take them back to their childhood.
"It was a real honour for the Princess to come.
"We invited her as a way of saying thank you to everybody who worked so hard on developing the garden."
