Priors Court youngsters treated to Christmas carols performance
The band played favourites including ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’, ‘Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer’, ‘Silent Night’ and ‘Jingle Bells’ and were occasionally conducted by one of the school’s students.
As many of the young people are non-verbal, Speech and Language therapists had taught staff and students to sign along to carols prior to the event.
In total there were two performances to accommodate the 80 young people and their families and some of the 500 staff who attended.
It was the fourth Christmas concert the band have performed for the Chieveley-based autism charity.
A mosaic tile featuring a musical note, made by the young people, was presented to the band following the performance.
Watership Brass secretary, Ann Forest, said: “It is always a pleasure to play at Priors Court and see the happy smiling faces.”
