Consultation on taxi licence rise in West Berkshire

West Berkshire Council wants the public’s views on a proposed three per cent hike to taxi licences for next year.

That’s the amount of cash taxi drivers and companies pay for the licence to operate – not the fares.

The licensing authority has launched a new consultation seeking comments on proposed changes to the existing taxi vehicle fees operators are charged for their licences.

The consultation seeks input from businesses, residents, the taxi trade, taxi users, community organisations and any other people with an interest in these matters.

The increase would see the current fee for a new taxi vehicle licence increase from £301.50 per year to £310.50 and from £268 to £276 when renewing a licence.

An operator with five vehicles would see their annual fee increase from £837.50 to £862.50.
