Protest group to hold fundraising party
A group fighting waste incinerator plans for Chieveley is hoping Sunday's Party in the Park will give them a boost
THE protest group fighting plans to build an incinerator in Chieveley is to hold its biggest fundraising event yet.
West Berkshire Against the Grundon Incinerator (WBAGI) said the event, Party in the Park, will be held on Sunday, July 3 in Chieveley Recreation Ground from 1pm until 6pm.
There will be a wide variety of musical acts performing including an opera singer, a boyband, a pianist, a rock choir and a DJ.
Tickets are available are priced at £8 per adult and £2 for children aged 5-18years with children under 5 allowed in for free, and are available from Chieveley Village Stores, Red Lion Chieveley, Hermitage Village Stores, The White Horse Hermitage, Cold Ash Shop, Hampstead Norreys Community Shop, Peaches Shop Bucklebury, Hogans Music Newbury and Weavers Coffee Shop, Newbury.
The group is raising funds to continue raising awareness of its opposition to proposals by waste firm Grundon to build an energy from waste plant capable of burning 350,000 tonnes of waste per year, enough to power 50,000 homes.
