Placards and demos against Grazeley solar farm
A public demonstration with banners and placards will protest at a planned 70-acre solar farm at Bloomfield Hatch Farm near Grazeley this Thursday evening.
Residents and farmers will attempt to block the arrival of a council planning committee at 7.30pm at the entrance to the farm, asking councillors to refuse the application.
“There is overwhelming support for green sustainable solar energy, at multiple smaller locations rather than one industrial sprawling development which will destroy vital high quality farming,” said Bloomfield Hatch Residents Association.
The residents association says homes and sewage systems have also been identified as being at high risk of flooding as a direct result of the solar farm if built.
The council said a feasibility study found the solar farm would offset about 30 per cent of its carbon footprint.
