Insulate Britain protesters blocking M4 this morning

UPDATE: The road has now reopened after police unglue protesters who had stuck themselves together. Several arrests have been made.

Protesters have shut part of the M4 this morning (Friday).

The Insulate Britain activists are at junction 3 near Hayes and all three lanes have been closed.

The incident began in the last hour and the protesters have been confronted by a number of angry motorists.

Insulate Britain is calling on the government to insulate all of the UK's 'leaky' homes by 2030 in a bid to cut carbon emissions.

Traffic England said it expected the motorway to be reopened by around 11.15am.

The protesters, who are all sat across the carriageway holding banners, glued their hands to the M25 in Essex earlier this week and are also currently on the M1.

They have been targetting the country's motorways recently, despite a court injuction preventing them from doing so on the M25.
