Welford and Wickham Primary School announces funds raised by its online Christmas auction
Friends at Welford and Wickham has revealed the fundraising total from its online Christmas charity auction which ran in November and December last year.
The group raised an impressive £5,487 – enabling Welford and Wickham School to upgrade its playground.
The online auction, which had more than 80 lots in total, raised £3,540 – the rest being match funded by The Good Exchange and Greenham Trust.
Chair of the Friends Committee Sarah Stanley said: "This year we decided to go all out with varied lots for the whole family to enjoy from pottery to laser quest, water sports to clay shooting, a barge trip on the Kennet and Avon to an escape room."
Work on upgrading the playground has already started and pupils have been treated to many new games including duck, duck, goose and hopscotch, along with height charts and a big world map to fuel their imaginations.
The funds could not have been raised without the support of the school and the Friends Committee, the generosity of the companies and individuals who donated lots and the members of the community who bid.
