Taste of England darts marathon raises around £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support
A DARTS marathon at a pub has raised a whopping sum for cancer care.
Regulars at The Taste of England, at Lower Henwick Farm, off Turnpike Road between Newbury and Thatcham, played, non-stop, between 10am and 10pm on Saturday, August 31.
The aim was to have as many people as possible throwing darts throughout the day, at £5 per person to enter.
There was also a raffle and all proceeds went to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Licensee Michelle McCarthy said: “We were proud to host the event and to support the organiser, Nicki Breakspear.
“Everyone knows someone whose life has been touched by cancer, so our fantastic darts team was happy to get involved.
“It’s a wonderful sum to have raised for a good cause.”
With the entry price, donations and raffle proceeds, the event has raised around £1,000, which will go directly to the charity.
Ms Breakspear said: “I’d like to say thanks to everyone who took part or donated, and particularly to Michelle for being so supportive and for hosting the marathon.”
