Pupils and staff invited to Shaw House 70th anniversary event

The 16th-century house was turned into a school after the Council School was bombed in 1943. What was supposed to be an emergency arrangement lasted until 1983 when the building was evacuated after being declared structurally unsound.
The house re-opened in 2006 after a £6m project restored it to its former glory.
Anyone who attended or taught at Shaw House School is invited to go along to the anniversary events between 11am and 4pm from today (Sat) until Monday.
Old photographs and school magazines will be on display and stories can be exchanged with old friends and teachers over coffee and cake.
There will also be a free gift bag for each adult visitor.
There will also be a chance to explore the history of the house in the Bombing that Moved a School exhibition.
Shaw House is open every weekend until September 8, between 11am and 4pm.
