Pupils evacuated after electrical fire at school
Classes in an annexe building at Kennet Valley Primary School were evacuated at about 10am today (Thursday)
ABOUT 60 pupils at Kennet Valley Primary School in Calcot were evacuated this morning (Thursday) after a small electrical fire in the ceiling of an annexe building.
At about 10am, classes in the annexe building were evacuated to the main school building, in line with procedures, and everyone was safe.
Fire crews attended the scene and dealt with the fire, while staff at the school were advised that the building should not be re-occupied until a professional survey of the ceiling had been carried out.
As a result, pupils in Years 5 and 6 were sent home and told not to return to school until Monday (January 31) and health and safety officers were called.
The rest of the school has not been affected.
