Newbury schools highly commended for creative efforts in final of Agricultural Challenge for Special Education
A record number of schools got creative for this year’s final of the Agricultural Challenge for Special Education, organised by Newbury and District Agricultural Society.
Children arrived at the Arlington Arts Centre near Newbury from 10am on Thursday (May 8), ready for the judging to commence at 12pm.
And after a bite to eat, the results followed.
In first place was Reading College, followed by Brookfields School in second place and Prior’s Court and Westwood Farm Schools in joint third.
The judges spent a great deal of time perusing the entries and speaking to staff and pupils, NADAS education officer Jan Murray told newburytoday.
And each pupil was awarded a certificate as well as certificates for the individual categories, ranging from weaving with natural items to illusion cakes.
The Castle School, Newbury College and Mary Hare Primary Schools all received Highly Commended.
Several of the schools who participate use the Challenge to inform their curriculum over the year.
