Pupils good attendees at West Berkshire schools figures show

Pupils from West Berkshire are absent from school less than they are in other parts of the country, according to pupil absence data released recently.
In the district, overall school absence fell from 5.4 per cent to 4.7 per cent, which places the authority above the national and south east averages at 5.2 and 5.3 per cent respectively.
Head of West Berkshire’s Education Services Ian Pearson said: “Regular school attendance is vital if children are to achieve their potential.
“Schools work very hard on this and are well supported by West Berkshire’s Education Welfare Service. I am delighted their statistics show excellent performance in this area.”
