Pupils restore rock to Kennet School with new musical
A Thatcham school is celebrating the success of its recent musical, We Will Rock You.
The pupil-led production was performed on Friday, 19 July (7pm) in the School Hall and featured high-energy performances and unforgettable music, said a school spokesperson.
Following the classic We Will Rock You plot, the musical transported the audience to a futuristic world where live music is banned — and where a group of rebels fights to restore the power of rock.
"The dedication and enthusiasm displayed by our pupils have been truly inspiring," said head of drama and show director, Rebecca Preston.
"Watching them bring this iconic music and story to life with such energy and professionalism has been an amazing experience.”
The show was a true celebration of Queen's legendary music, featuring timeless hits such as Radio Ga Ga, I Want to Break Free, Somebody to Love, Under Pressure, We Are the Champions, Bohemian Rhapsody and We Will Rock You.
Each song showcased the musical talent of the pupils from different year groups.
And behind the scenes, the production team worked tirelessly to create sets, costumes and lighting.
The band also provided a powerful rock soundtrack — core to the essence of the show.
