Purley man charged with death of two cyclists
Alexander Farrar Walters, aged 31, from Beech Road, Purley, appeared at Reading Magistrates Court, charged, according to Thames Valley Police, with two counts of causing death by dangerous driving, one count of aggravated vehicle taking, one count of driving while disqualified, and one count of using a vehicle without insurance.
Mr Walters was remanded in custody and was next due to appear at Reading Crown Court on March 3.
The charge is in connection with a collision on the A329 Purley Rise at 9pm on Thursday, in which two cyclists died, both of whom worked for Reading Borough Council.
One of the two cyclists has been named locally as 30-year-old John Morland, a father of two.
It is believed the other cyclist was a Kris Jarvis, aged 39, a father of five.
