Put your art at the heart of the community
The Newbury Weekly News has joined the district council, business and charitable sectors in an innovative project to spruce up Newbury Bus Station.
The Connect Art project seeks to adorn the transport hub with large portrait oils, watercolours or photographs of scenes from across the district and 12 winners will have their masterpieces transformed into posters on the bus stop windows until September 2014.
The idea for the project came from the Volunteer Centre West Berkshire to improve the facilities and looks of the town centre’s gateway, which is the starting point for journeys across the district and across the Hampshire border.
The closing date for entries is noon on August 19.
Submissions, which should be in portrait format, can be made at www.connectartnewbury.co.uk or alternatively, a hard copy of the piece can be handed in at the Volunteer Centre in Northbrook Street.
