Queen's Birthday Honours
Thatcham has topped the list after three people from the town have been honoured for their work in the community
THATCHAM has topped West Berkshire's list of people recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Three people from the town have been handed an honour from the list which was released this morning (Saturday).
Thatcham woman, Jacqueline Cass, who runs the Thames Valley Kings Wheelchair Basketball Club, has been appointed an MBE for voluntary service.
Teresa Dawes from Thatcham, a former teacher at Park House School, Newbury, was appointed an MBE for services to education.
David Newton, an engineering specialist at Atomic Weapons Establishment who is also from Thatcham, has been appointed an MBE for services to the defence industry.
Others honoured include chairman of the Mortimer Group, Christopher Dodson, who was appointed an OBE for services to industry, and chairman and clinical director at NHS Hampshire, Dr David Balfour, who was appointed an MBE for services to healthcare.
