Newbury Racecourse bonfire night fireworks display to a be ticketed event
Due to traffic and queueing issues in 2021, this year’s bonfire night fireworks display at Newbury Racecourse will be a ticketed event.
Run by the Newbury Lions, the Charity Fireworks Spectacular will not have tickets on sale on the door on the evening of November 5.
Newbury Lions president John Coleman said: “It was fantastic to see so many people last year, but the numbers posed quite a few problems.
“We have always allowed people to turn up on the night and pay on the gate but a last-minute rush will always create traffic issues and queues at the food outlets.
“We have listened to the feedback and are working with the racecourse to try to alleviate these problems.”
Other changes have been made to the event, including there being a separate food court in operation so that that those queueing for refreshments will not be getting mixed up with the crowd waiting for the display to start.
Mr Coleman added: “We want to let everyone know as soon as possible about the change to an all-ticket event.
“There will be the opportunity to book tickets online, as this proved popular last year, and they will be available in local stores and at our market stalls.
“We are working to get the ticket booking system up and running as soon as we can so everyone can get their tickets well in advance to be sure of their place.”
Newbury Lions are looking for volunteers to help out with the event. If you are interested, please contact fireworks@newburylions.org.uk
