Raiders wrench cash machine from services foyer

RAIDERS tied a rope round a cash machine before attaching the other end to a car and wrenching it from its position.

The theft caused major damage to the foyer and electric doors at the M4 Membury Services Eastbound.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the theft, which happened at 1.18am on Tuesday, December 29.

At 1.18am on Tuesday (29/12) the offenders entered the services via the west entrance, eventually loading the entire cash machine and its contents into their vehicle before making their escape.

The first offender is a slim man wearing a grey balaclava, a dark coloured jacket with a white top underneath, gloves, black trousers and white trainers.

The second offender is a white man, also slim and wearing grey hooded headwear with black clothing over his mouth, a grey sleeved jacket with dark coloured body, dark trousers and black trainers.

PC Robert Simpson-Jones, of Newbury local area CID, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who saw the incident as they may be able to provide details to help the investigation.”
