Ramsbury pond to be drained in next phase of police search

Police searches, including the use of cadaver dogs trained in tracing human remains, are still taking place in areas surrounding the pond in Hilldrop Lane, which remains closed.
On Friday, det chief insp Sean Memory, who is leading the investigation, said he hoped other items known to be in Miss O’Callaghan’s possession on the night she went missing would be discovered in the search, including her mobile phone, handbag and jewellery.
The knife used as the murder weapon has also not been found.
The first boot was pulled from the water on Wednesday, and the second on Friday afternoon, followed shortly after by the shotgun.
The boots are believed to be those worn by Miss O’Callaghan on the night she was murdered.
She was last seen leaving Suju nightclub in Swindon at 2.52am on Saturday, March 19, 2011 and her body was found near Uffington White Horse five days later.
In October 2012, Swindon taxi driver Christopher Halliwell, who at the time of Miss O’Callaghan’s death lived in Ashbury Avenue, pleaded guilty to her murder.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment and ordered to serve a minimum of 25 years, when he appeared before Bristol Crown Court.
He was not tried for a second murder after leading police to Becky Godden's buried body. He was not cautioned by investigating officer Det Supt Steve Fulcher before he led police to the body in Gloucestershire.
