Rare Lichfield cameras and photos up for auction today

A UNIQUE opportunity to buy cameras and images from the private collection of the late Earl of Lichfield will present itself at an auction in Newbury today (Thursday).
Patrick Lichfield (1939-2005) was an internationally renowned photographer whose work was published in all the major magazines and exhibited worldwide.
He also published several books during his career and The National Portrait Gallery dedicated a retrospective exhibition to the first twenty years of his work in 2002.
Following a summons from Diana Vreeland, the doyenne of fashion editors, to photograph The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, he was given a five year contract with American Vogue.
He photographed every Royal Family in Europe and in 1981 was appointed official photographer at the wedding of his cousin,
The Prince of Wales and Lady Diana Spencer.
The collection of around 40 lots primarily consists of the cameras he worked with on a daily basis and his framed pictures, which hung on the walls of his London Studio.
This is the first occasion such items are going under the hammer and the auction is expected to attract international attention. The collection includes five cameras which are expected to reach up to £8,000 between them.
Also up for auction is a series of seven images, including pictures of Henry Cooper and Joan Collins that are expected to reach up to £1700 altogether.
