Rare vinyl records and Dirk Bogarde photographs go under hammer at Newbury auction

The Special Auction Services (SAS) Music and Entertainment auction lots include three rare vinyl records by the Sex Pistols, Tinkerbells Fairydust and Jimi Hendrix.
A record in near mint condition of the Sex Pistols God Save the Queen (1977) in its original A&M sleeve, the property of a former employee of the record company, is estimated at £6,000 to £8,000.
One of only five known copies of a stereo album (finished copy) of Tinkerbells Fairydust (1969) that was due for release in December 1969 on the Decca record label carries an estimate of £2,000 to £3,000, said to be one of the rarest 1960s psychedelic albums ever produced.
In addition, a rare white label sample of the mail-order only Jimi Hendrix album, Electric Jimi, will be offered at £500 to £600.
Photographs of the film star, Dirk Bogarde, along with an unusual oil painting of the actor, will also be auctioned today (Thurs).
The vendor’s uncle, a Frederick Strayton, was employed by Mr Bogarde and was given the pieces when he left his employment as a houseman in 1966.
A collection of 20 black and white silver print professional photographs shot in and around Bogarde’s home The Nore Estate, near Bramley, Surrey are expected to fetch between £500 and £800.
The photographs include the interiors of living rooms and bedrooms, as well as Bogarde in various poses - leaning on a Rolls-Royce BH5, in the gardens with his dog, smoking a cigarette in an armchair – and are mounted in a leather album.
An oil on board (1964), cryptically entitled Chief Manyhops, depicts Dirk Bogarde in the guise of a Native American Indian and carries an estimate of £120 to £180.
